Ryu Voelkel first caught my attention in the run up to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, as he had the intention to head out to South America and capture an abstract view of the footballing world, as it comes together once again for his book titled 'No Hands'. I love how differently he has thought in terms of not only composition, but also exposure, and how post production techniques can be used to manipulate a truly unique sports image. There are also images exposed onto infra-red film, that provide extremely unusual and abstract results.
